Alcove, nestled at 50 Lovejoy Wharf in Boston, MA, is redefining the Mediterranean dining experience with its elevated offerings. Reviews from patrons reflect a blend of delicious food, thoughtful service, and a charming atmosphere. Jea Kim describes it as a "relaxing getaway," and her delightful encounter with the Dine Out menu highlights the restaurant's commitment to quality. The fresh clams she began with set a high bar, while the Rigatoni Bolognese showcased a masterclass in subtlety and depth, achieving the perfect al dente texture.
Isabela Maia echoed the sentiment with praise for not only the tomato soup but also the attentive service provided by Bryan, enhancing the overall dining experience. A newer menu has reinvigorated Alcove's offerings, with Sean Michael Walsh Connolly asserting that the unique ribs are a must-try. Many reviews point to seafood as a highlight, yet there's a consistent note about the need for improved presentation in certain dishes, with Noah pointing out the simplicity of the burger and fries.
Overall, Alcove invites guests to enjoy a stunning view and refreshing Mediterranean flavors, paired with a focus on sustainability. With warm months on the horizon, outdoor seating will surely elevate future visits. Whether celebrating a special occasion or seeking a weekday escape, Alcove is poised to be a standout destination in Boston.

Elevated tavern that offers great food and a relaxing getaway along the wharf. Alcove has been under my radar for a long time as I walk past this area often to walk my dog. Compared to Nightshift Brewing next doors, Alcove’s patio is usually empty, so I was always a bit hesitant to give this place a try. Since they’ve been on the Dine Out Boston list for a long time, I finally decided to stop by for a weekday lunch. Alcove curates a separate Dine Out menu, which, to my pleasant surprise, surpassed my expectations. Before getting the Dine Out Menu, I got a half dozen clams, and these medium-sized delights were fresh and excellent start to the meal. For my three-course lunch, I opted for the Crispy Shrimp Gem Lettuce Salad, Rigatoni Bolognese, and the Dark Chocolate Tart. The salad was an enjoyable medley of textures, with the crispy croutons and fried shrimp lending additional crunch to the little gem lettuce and radishes. The gentle touch of green goddess dressing added a light, flavorful coating that enhanced the dish without overpowering its fresh ingredients. The Rigatoni Bolognese, cooked to perfect al dente, was enveloped in a savory yet mildly flavored sauce that surprised me with its subtlety and depth. The finale, Dark Chocolate Tart, was the only aspect that I found to be just okay. The tart itself was somewhat mushy and the cream a bit watery, but it still represented a step above typical tavern fare. Overall, Alcove offers a refined dining experience that may make it a worthwhile choice over a more casual pizza and beer at Nightshift, if you’re in the mood. With the warmer months ahead, I might come back with my dog to try more of their menu.

The new menu is amazing! If, like us, you had a “not-so-great experience” in the past, give the new menu a second chance. The ribs were out of this world They are unique and must be tried. Enjoy!

We had a wonderful meal here to celebrate our anniversary. The food and drink were delicious, and the staff appropriately attentive. We would highly recommend the Halibut Ceviche, the Berkshire Pork Chop, and the Chocolate Mousse.

There’s a lot to like here. Gorgeous views outside, really modern interior, prompt service, and sustainability as a focus from the menu. I think like many spots nearby you’ll find seafood is one of the highlights, but I wish they could do more with their appetizer section - it feels a bit lacking. The bread was delightful if small in “value”/portion sizing. Ditto the ice cream at the end. Entrees felt generously portioned and were quite good, but the burger was a bit lackluster - just a little dull and not all that well presented- same for fries. Same for the chicken. Delicious, don’t get me wrong, but plating needs work- just very bland aesthetically. Feels like a 3/5 there but a solid 4.5/5 in flavor. I’m doing the full 5/5 stars because we had a good time, felt well attended, and generally appreciate any seasonal and sustainable food even inclusive of small flaws or other unrelated issues. Nothing “outstanding” or groundbreaking happening during our meal (summer 2023), but absolutely still a highlight of the town and it’s so nice to see sustainable high quality food taken seriously.

We hosted a company dinner at Alcove for 60 people. It was a seamlessly planned event. The food and service were wonderful! We especially enjoyed working with Jeni who made sure the dinner went off without a hitch! Would highly recommend Alcove for a large group dinner.
